Former Texas baseball player divorcing wife

Texas baseball fans may be interested to learn that on April 19, a former player for the Texas Rangers moved ahead with the divorce process. While the divorce petition stated that conflict was the reason for the couple's separation, it was noted that the baseball slugger has a history of substance abuse and reportedly relapsed in early 2015.

In the petition, the Los Angeles Angels player requested that his wife be prohibited from using two vehicles that he claimed were personal property, making negative or disparaging remarks against him and hiding the whereabouts of his children, among other requests. According to an agreement made by the couple, the baseball player was prohibited from seeing his children without supervision and visiting three properties that were owned by the couple. The couple also agreed to stop communicating while the case was proceeding.

The baseball player spent five seasons playing with the Texas Rangers. In 2012, he signed a $125 million, five-year deal to play with the Los Angeles Angels. Following surgery on his right shoulder and his reported relapse, it was not known if he would be playing with the Angels again.

It can be difficult to divide property and financial assets in high net worth divorce cases. A family law attorney may assist with these types of cases by helping to inventory all of the couple's marital assets to determine the couple's net worth. The attorney may then assist with negotiating how those marital assets and property will be split between the two parties.
