Mother fights to recover daughter from family in Texas

As most residents of Texas know, one of a parent's greatest fears is the discovery that their child is missing, or that they cannot have access to them for one reason or another. Sadly, it is something that parents across the United States face every year, many of them fighting prolonged battles to regain custody of their children.

In Louisiana the mother of a 9-year-old girl has spent two years fighting to recover her daughter from Texas. According to reports, the little girl was collected from her school by a couple who had come from Dallas. The child's mother arrived at the school to find her young daughter was already gone. Since then, she has been engaged in a largely unsuccessful battle to prove that her daughter was abducted.

However, the Texas couple who currently have custody of the little girl have guardianship paperwork suggesting that the child was signed over to them. Despite this, the child's biological parents deny signing any such documents and allege that the signatures are forged. The documents have also been found to have been sealed with a stamp that appears to have been stolen.

This sensitive case is understandably distressing for all involved, including the brothers and sisters of the 9-year-old. While a fresh investigation is underway regarding the guardianship paperwork, the mother's attempts to file an emergency custody order in Louisiana have been unsuccessful. Meanwhile, she has been accused of custody interference and could face jail as a result.

Cases like this are seldom easy to resolve and it is often the children who suffer as a result. If you are fighting for the custody of your child or you are worried about a potential custody dispute, you may benefit from the advice and support of an attorney. He or she can advise you about your options and may be able to assist you with securing a fair and favorable resolution to the investigation.
